Next OPU World Congress Moves to Ogun State... Picks Every February For Black History Day


According to the communiqué issued at the end of 3rd OPU world congress, the next Oodua Progressive Union (OPU) World Congress meeting moves to Abeokuta Ogun state. His Royal Highness, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo (Alake of Egba Land) will be hosting the congress in the year 2018.
However, the Congress specifically commends the two most prominent Oba in Yoruba land, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Atanda Olayiwola Adeyemi III (Alaafin of Oyo), His Imperial Majesty, Oba Babatunde Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi (Ojaja II, Oni of Ife) and other traditional rulers for exposing the members to the intrinsic value of Yoruba Race. The Congress agreed to promote the value, culture, norms and heritage of Yoruba Race wherever and whenever they are.

The congress more so, re-emphasis the re-introduction of History and Yoruba language in primary and secondary school curriculum and also the inclusion as option of History and Yoruba in our tertiary institution.
The Congress unanimously agreed that every chapter of OPU shall be celebrating Black History Day in the month of February of every year.
The Oodua flag was also adopted by all members while OPC anthem was adopted for OPU pending the composition of OPU anthem, which will be posted on OPU Whatsapp platform for adoption and approval.
The Congress agreed that there shall be Oodua House to be established in all the OPU countries.
