OKOTA Residents Threatened Legal Action Against LAWMA Over Extortion

Residents of 25, Nwachukwu Street, Okota, Isolo, Lagos, state  south west Nigeria have threatened to commence legal action against Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), and Lagos State Public Procurement Agency, over what they descried as 'anti-people, oppressive, unlawful and illegal activities' of one of its service providers.

The residents in a notice of intention to commence legal action, written by their lawyer, Chief Malcolm Omirhobo, stated that the service provider, SAROBOL Nigeria Limited in connivance with some officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Justice have been using instrumentality of law to blackmail, harass, embarrass, intimidate and arm-twist them to enter into agreement to pay for services not rendered. Adding that the contractor is extorting money for her incompetence and non-performance from them, and that the Lagos State who foisted the service provider on them failed, refused and neglected to protect them.
    The residents stated that it is upon the Illegal and unlawful activities of the service provider that they briefed their lawyer Chief Malcolm Omirhobo to challenge the illegality and rascality on the part of the Lagos State government by issuing a writ of certiorari and prohibition to quash and prevent as the case may be the actions  of the Lagos State government,  agents, servants, and privies.

Consequently, the residents threatened to institute a class action against the said service provider, SAROBOL, the Lagos State government, the Attorney-General of Lagos State, Lagos State Procurement Public Agency and LAWMA for a writ of certiorari to quash their anti-people, oppressive, Illegal and unlawful activities.

A writ of Prohibition to prevent the service provider and others from further perpetrating their anti-people, oppressive, Illegal and unlawful activities,and a writ of certiorari to quash the Illegal and unlawful monies collected from Okota residents for services not rendered.

The residents also threatened to institute a class action against the service provider for a writ of prohibition to prevent it from further Act of extortion and oppressing them and the residents of Okota.
