Shasha Monarch's Alleged Dethronement Move Outcry Debunked

A Community Leader in Shasha kingdom, Lagos state, Alhaji Abdurauf Tijjani, has reacted to a newspaper publication by the self enthroned Oba of Shasha, Babatunde Ogunrombi, who alleged that a judge of Federal High Court, and some people are working vigorously to dethrone him from the royal seat.

Ogunrombi in a news story, captioned 'Alimosho monarch fingers judge, others in his dethronement move', of Monday July 25, 2016, edition of Vanguard newspaper, page 10, alleged in a letter to the Chief Judge of Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, to intervene over alleged plot by some persons working in convince with the judge to forcefully and unlawful dethrone him as Oba of Shasha Kingdom.

He had also urged the Chief Judge to use his office to check what he called flagrant abuse of judicial power by Justice Musa Kurya, in a suit no. FHC/L/CS/1665/2013, between Babatunde Ismaila and Others Vs. Inspector General of Police and Others.

Refuting the monarch's allegation of his dethronement, one of the persons fingered by the monarch, Alhaji AbdulRauf Tijjani, while responding to the allegations, described the monarch as a squatter, which a court have been ordered to be arrested by the the Police, following a bench warrant issued against him and others and bring him before the court

Speaking on while the monarch is crying foul, Alhaji Tijjani said: "on January 31, 2014, Justice Musa Kurya of Federal High Court, Lagos, now on transfer to Jos Division of the court, deliver a judgment in suit no. FHC/L/1665/2013. On February 14, 2014, the judge also gave an order to enforce the judgement of January 31, 2014. While on February 24, 2014, the judge also granted an order compelling the IGP, and CP of Lagos state, to provide adequate security for the enforcement of the judgement.

"The judge also made a consequential order compelling the Lagos state government to produce letter of Governor's approval that appoint the 10th respondent in the suit, (Oba Akanbi Lawal), as Oba of Shasha Kingdom, and because the Lagos state government failed, and did not produce the letter appointing the Oba, at the trial. The judgement was awarded in favour of Akinlowo and nine others who were the plaintiff in the suit while the sum of N30 million was awarded against the Oba and other respondents.

The main application that led to the final judgement and consequential order of Federal High Court speaks for itself, and each reliefs is well stated to distinct it from any order reliefs except fundamental rights.

"Up till today, the judgement and the orders were not appealed. Though, they claimed to have appealed the judgment but it was not brought to the knowledge of the court and the applicants in the suit against them.

"In the same vain, we asked the Oba to produce the letter from that appointed him as our Oba, and the letter from Lagos state government, which enthrone him as oba of Shasha kingdom he did not.

"The failure of the Lagos state government and the 10th respondent (Oba Lawal), to produce government's approval that mounted him on the throne of Oba, led to the Federal High Court to enter judgment against, while the sum of N30 million was also awarded against him as damages for fraudulent misconduct that subsumed the fundamental rights of the Royal house of Shasha Akinlowo Ogunrombi Dynasty.

"I therefore called on peace loving people of Shasha Kingdom, Lagosians and Nigerians at large to disregard the rumour being paddle by the self imposed monarch."
