How Oyo Lawmaker Hon. Gideon Aremu, Was Assassinated In Front Of His House

A member of Oyo State House of Assembly, Mr. Gideon Aremu, representing Oorelope constituency, has been reportedly assassinated by unknown gunmen.
Aremu was killed on Friday night in his Alakia residence in Egbeda Local Government Area where assailants shot him at close range.
The attackers, numbering three, were said to have trailed him on a motorcycle to his residence around 11pm. According to info, he had some money on him at the time, but the attackers did not take anything from him except his mobile phone.
The APC lawmaker was said to have been shot severally by his attackers immediately he alighted from his car. He reportedly died as he was being rushed to a nearby private hospital.

Shybellmedia also gathered that Aremu was to bag a doctorate degree in Statistics from the University of Ilorin this week. He was said to have collected graduation gown for the convocation and had even invited his fellow legislators and friends to Ilorin, Kwara State for the celebration of his academic achievement.

Until his death, he was the Chairman, Oyo State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Public Relations and Security.
Confirming the incident, Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adekunle Ajisebutu, said, “It is true that the gentleman was killed”. Oyo State APC described the death as shocking and called for thorough investigation into the matter by security agencies with a view to bringing the culprits to justice.
